So here I am breaking one of those dumb rules with my black leggings and brown boots. I have to say, unlike some of the other rules, this one was actually very hard for me to break. I mean, I wear white year round, love horizontal stripes, have no problem pairing florals with plaid, but black and brown together? That was were I drew the line. Until now.
Now I'm living on the edge and laughing in the face of danger.
And tomorrow, it's ice cream for breakfast. Vive la Revolution!
How about you? What rules you would like to add or break?
I love black and brown together. I had also thought this was a faux pas until I started watching What Not to Wear where they encourage it! It makes sense- they say that all neutrals go together...so that even included navy blue and black. There ya go. Mix all you want! Very cute! (Oh-- you forgot the whole 'bag has to match shoes'. Apparently, this isn't so either.)
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that I had to google culottes? Are those the same as gaucho pants?
ReplyDeleteI am loving this. I could use a little more fashion sense in my life! Now if you could fly out here and help me shop so I don't have to do it, THAT would rock.
I'd like to wear pajamas to Wal-Mart!
ReplyDeleteChristine, I forgot about the purse/shoe thing. I pretty much only wear my diaper bag now so that rule is out the window for me anyway.
ReplyDeleteJenny, culottes are not the same as gauchos. There are some slight differences that make gauchos acceptable in a way that culottes will never be. I love helping people shop, my dream job for sure!
Darlene, don't you see people everyday wearing pajamas at Wal-Mart?
thanks for the fashion tips .....i love it your like a fashion guru mom
ReplyDeleteSome rules ARE made to be broken. And some rules can only be broken by people who are above the rules.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes black and brown DO work together.
I second the fact that tights don't function as pants!
ReplyDeleteAnd also that pajamas are only for bed and Walmart. I once saw a 90-something year old woman in her bathrobe and curlers at the customer service counter at Walmart (mind you it was like 3:00 in the afternoon...)that may be stretching the rules a little... but my fashion senses screaming at me were overwhelmed by my how incredibly impressive it was that this woman had such courage to leave the house in such a form...
