Let's bring ladylike back

It's no secret that I wish I lived in a place that has seasons. Obviously, I love things like changing leaves and snow, but there is another reason I wish I lived somewhere that had a more pronounced winter. You see, one of the hazards of living in a place that has year-round summer weather is overexposure, not to the sun, but to the sheer amount of human flesh that tends to be on display everywhere you go.  Even at Disneyland (which you would think would require it's patrons to wear G-rated clothing) I saw a girl wearing a skirt so short that, I kid you not, there was cheekage. Since when did trashy become the new black?

Enough with the trashiness! I was going to write a whole list of ways to be more ladylike but I looked over the list and realized that I could summarize it all into one sentence:

Wear clothes, preferably ones that aren't too revealing and that are appropriate for the occasion.

FYI - Revealing can mean too short, too low, too tight, too sheer, etc. And then dressing appropriately for the occasion is what trips up most people. You see, there is nothing inherently wrong with things like swimsuits, flip-flops, jeans, or um, lingerie. You just need to know where and when you are supposed to wear them.

Ok, I'm done venting. Onto today's outfit.

Today's outfit is brought to you by Target

About today's outfit, I'm not a huge fan of florals but I was inspired by the Cothed Much challenge of wearing floral on floral. Yesterday I found this dress yesterday at Target for six bucks, but I wasn't completely sold on it until I found this hat. I have been searching for a cloche hat ever since my friend Marly let me borrow her adorable one for my baby shower. Nothing says lady like a cute hat, right? But more importantly, I've finally assembled an outfit made up entirely of Target items. I seriously think Target should start sponsoring me.

  3. I think appropriate to the occasion also means appropriate to the season. I'm so tired of girls coming to school in short little shorts and then complaining that they're cold. Well, duh!

And that hat totally works on you!
