Young at Heart

My little sister and my nieces wanted to go to Hangtime here in Utah. Naturally I was reluctant to go since the last time I was there Brian walked limped away with an ankle broken in two places. And by reluctant I mean, I was like heck yeah, let's go! My bones are made up of equal parts hardy Scottishness and straight up stubbornness. No trampoline wusses here.

My little sister Jamie was a gymnast for 10 years and was flying all over the place doings twists, flips, tucks, and back hand springs. I, on the other hand, was like, look I can touch my knees! She tried in vain to help me do a cart wheel and a somersault. It was all really quite sad. And then I got stuck in the foam pit. If you've ever wondered what quick sand is like just jump into a foam pit. I told my nieces who were heroically trying to pull me out, "just go, save yourselves" and began composing my eulogy on my cell phone for when they were finally able to retrieve my body.

I'm happy to report that my bones held up just fine while I made a complete fool out of myself. I may be young at heart but not so much in the limbs. Four days later and I'm still sore from this outing.

  1. I'm going to one of these places in a few days. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up in a full body cast.
