Since British goods are hard to come by in AZ one of the things we always do while my mom is up here in Utah is visit the British import store in Salt Lake. But the usual place we go to closed down so we checked out Pirate O's. While they didn't have as wide of a selection of British goods as I had hoped for(no Carmel Wafers??? The travesty!!!) they did have a few of the basics: Fruit Pastilles, Hob Nobs, McVities chocolate digestives (sounds disgusting but really it's just a cookie) and most importantly, Irn-Bru: the drink of the gods. It's a Scottish soda and it's divine. I dream about it. I long for it. I get practically teary-eyed just thinking about it. But since it's 3 bucks for a 12oz bottle and I'm not eating sugar (or drinking it for that matter either) I only bought one and I'm saving it for whenever Brian finally gets a good job. Or when I get pregnant. Or when we finally get to move out. Or when I finally lose my mind. Whichever one happens first. Anyway, after buying our loot at Pirate O's we headed over to Ikea for lunch. With Scottish sodas, English cookies, and Swedish meatballs this family had quite the international culinary experience that day.

SAD and International Cuisines
Sorry for the lack of posting, I've been down in the dumps since my mom and sister went back to AZ last week. I did my best to convince to them to stay for another day maybe even another month. But no, they were all like, we have to get back and get ready for school. So basically all the summer holidays are over (sorry Utah, I have zero percent pioneer heritage...the 24th means nothing to me), all the family visits are over, the royal baby has been born, and there is still plenty of sweltering summer left over. Cue my seasonal affective disorder. So forgive me for spending the next few posts reminiscing over all the fun we had while my family was in town.
