In the past few years I haven't been very good about celebrating the holidays. No, I'm not morally opposed to Halloween or Valentines Day or anything like that. I'm just dead lazy. Unfortunately all of my non-celebrating has also extended to our anniversary. Last year I even tried to get Brian to agree to not celebrating it at all under the guise of saving money for our Sundance trip, but really it was because I didn't want to have expend any mental energy coming up with a creative gift. He agreed to it and then he went and bought me Anne of Green Gables on DVD. No, he hasn't been forgiven for that one. So this year I was determined to make a better effort. I brainstormed. I googled. I even got out my hot gun, but thankfully I had the presence of mind to put it away again before I hurt myself. Do you know what the 6 year anniversary gift is? Wood. Fabulous. What am I gonna do with that? Buy a 2 x 4 and write I love you on it? I don't think that that would adequately express my affection for him. Unless I beat him with it.
Anyway, I ended up not making anything necessarily for him but instead I went with a nice, big, cheesy display of love. I made a mish mash of a few ideas I found on Pinterest. Brian was quite impressed. I just hope I haven't inflated his expectations for future years.

| I made the banner and the hearts and the framed poster. Brian bought me the flowers and the print of one of our wedding photos. |
 |
| Brian said that he spent 20 minutes reading all the little hearts and the pages of the banner thinking that there was some hidden message. No honey, I didn't put THAT much thought into it. |
 |
| Brian printed this out. Much better than a sappy Hallmark card don't you think? |
Brian surprised me that night by hiring a babysitter and taking me to dinner (seafood) and a movie (MI4). Sounds lame but since this was only our second date since Shye was born it was pure bliss. Tom Cruise's face sure didn't hurt either. :)
p.s. Craft and date-night for January: done and done.
How awesome! Happy Anniversary!
