Splash Pad Review: Riverwoods Shopping Center

So, I've recently decided that I'm pretty much THE authority on splash pads. Shye is one of those kids that must get out every day and has gotten bored of my little circuit of mall play areas and park play grounds. Luckily for me though water is of endless fascination to her. Splash pads are free, they are far safer than pools, and I get to just sit on my butt and watch instead of running around after her. So that is like a win-win-win situation. We visit at least two splash pads a week so we are talking about an expert level of, um, expertise here. But what good is knowledge if you don't share it? And so my dear readers, I've decided to impart my knowledge to you by posting a reviews of all the splash pads of Utah County (and maybe a few in Salt Lake too) that I can find. You must be so excited, I know.

Anyway, so the Riverwoods has a pretty nice little splash pad. And unlike most splash pads which are situated in parks this one is in a shopping plaza so there are plenty of places to eat and shop. So basically to a mom that means that the opportunities to sit on your butt, stuff your face, and engage in general laziness while your kids are completely entertained are boundless. It usually isn't as crowded as some of the other splash pads either, which is kinda nice since Shye tends to dislike crowds. And most importantly there are plenty of shady spots for me to sit and facebook my heart out. The only drawback about this splash pad, at least for us anyway, is that it isn't close enough to really be convenient.

Riverwoods report card
The fountains: 4/5
Ambiance: 5/5
Crowd factor: 5/5
Proximity: 3/5
Shady spots for mom: 5/5

Overall score 22/25

Shye is drenched, happy, and exhausted. Good job Riverwoods.

  1. I just recently checked out the Riverwoods and thought it was pretty cool. As far as the entire venue is concerned, I was a little underwhelmed by it all. I had heard so many things about it and how cool and posh it was, so I was expecting a lot.

As far as the splash pad goes, I agree it's awesome and not very busy. I wasn't expecting there to be one, so we didn't come prepared with swimsuits and all that, but if it were closer I think we'd go again for sure.

I agree with you that splash pads are awesome and SOOO much safer! There's a great one near my place in North Salt Lake if you're ever in the area. :)
