I've decided that having cute clothes can really help any situation. Like when I was huge and uncomfortably pregnant having a few cute things to wear made my days a little easier. So here's want I want, need, whatever you want to call it to get me through the summer. All images from Pinterest. Sue me.
White jeans. I swear whites jeans are like the unicorn of jeans. Good luck finding a pair that aren't too sheer (hellooooo cellulite!) and that actually fit right. And then I have a toddler. Everyone knows that a white article of clothing activates a toddler's seek and destroy mechanism. But still, they look sooo chic. I must have a pair.
White tee. Every year I have to buy a new white tee shirt. In fact, it doesn't really feel like summer until I do.
Pink jeans. I'm was kinda over the colored denim trend last year. I've been wearing black, grey, camo, and army green pants. Except I've been digging pink jeans lately. They go perfectly with all the grey, white, and denim color schemes that I've been liking this summer.
Body con skirts. Every teenie-bopper store carries these skirts for usually like five bucks a pop. I have the shortest, stumpiest legs ever. Seriously, I buy petite pants and I still have to roll them up. So these skirts hit me just above the knees and are perfect for summer. And all you women with long amazonian legs can just cry me a river.
Boyfriend shorts. Shorts have always been my arch nemesis. In addition to having short, stumpy legs I also have fatty knees. And long shorts just see to highlight this issue. But this year I'm thinking that perhaps the way to go is some loose, rolled up boyfriend shorts.
High-waisted bikini. I searched everywhere for one of these last year. And I ended up just making one myself by cutting up one of my one piece suits. But this year they are a little easier to find.
Midkini. I'm so in love with these suits. (p.s. all of these are from Delia's)
Hats. I will take one of each please.
Sandals. I would really love a pair of white Birkenstocks to go with my imaginary white jeans, but I think I'm gonna sit this trend out on account of my cankles. But I am determined to snag a pair of hurache-style sandals at some point. (The white ones in the middle are at Payless!)
What about you? How do you survive summer? What's on your summer wardrobe wishlist?

I'll take the smokin' bodies of those models complete with "thigh gap," paired with a deep, dark tan. Add to that: long, flowy, gorgeous hair. Perfect. Seriously though, I know that I CANNOT pull off colored jeans, I've tried. But I will take any or all of those hats! I was reading a fashion blog earlier this season and one piece swimsuits are back in style. I may or may not have shouted for joy. Even when I had a size 4 body (back in high school) I couldn't wear a bikini. I looked ridiculous for some reason. So, I'm hoping to score an amazing one piece this year and be content with how I look in it!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think a road trip to Cali is in order. Just as long as it's not between July 10-20 because I won't be here.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting more into skirts this year. I hate my legs, but I'm learning to deal with them by wearing fun skirts.
While I love summer to death, summer fashions are not my thing. I'm not a fan of showing my legs in public, so I was loving my fall/spring maxi dresses. I'm impressed that you are contemplating wearing anything white with a child. I haven't worn white in years because popcicles just don't wash out that easily.
ReplyDeleteI defiantly think any CA road trip should start in Folsom! It's just a hop skip and a jump across the sierras! I like those sandals.
