This was the first year that Shye was able to really get into trick-or-treating. It was so much fun! For the first few houses she was a little confused and kept trying to go inside because I guess that's what we normally do when we knock on someone's door. But after a couple of houses she finally realized we were just getting candy and she was just fine after that. She even started trying to grab second and third pieces of candy. Little glutton. As a reward for all her hard work I let her have one tootsie roll and then I confiscated the rest. I'm such a mean mom.

Halloween
Halloween kinda stresses me out. There is so much pressure to come up with cute, original, coordinating ideas for costumes and I'm just not that creative. Luckily, this year my mom came to my rescue and volunteered to make Shye's costume. She was going to make her a Red Riding Hood outfit while we were down in Tucson for two weeks. But in the weeks leading up to Halloween my fb and instagram feed blew up with pictures of all my friends' kids in Red Riding Hood costumes. Apparently, it was THE costume this year. What the heck? Anyway, my mom and I brainstormed a bit and she came up with the idea of Little Bo Peep and she just happened to have the perfect dress and bonnet for it too. All I had to do was come up with the apron and the shepard's crook. Whoop whoop! As for me, I originally planned to go as a fox with a sign that read "what does the fox say?" but Brian convinced me that no one around here would get it. So I went thru my closet and came up with a Rosie the Riveter costume. Too feminist? Sue me.
