A tale of two pumpkin patches

I wouldn't be able to call myself a respectable mommy blogger if I didn't go pumpkin patching, now would I? So this year I upped the ante and we went to TWO pumpkin patches. Yeah. Beat that. Actually, the way it happened was we went to a pumpkin patch in Utah right before I headed to AZ for two weeks and then we ended up going to a pumpkin patch in AZ as well. As it turns out they were both pretty great. And it was fun to get to celebrate the season with both of my families.

Red Barn, Santaquin Utah
The weather in October in Utah is simply gorgeous. Seriously we could not have asked for a more picturesque setting or better weather. This pumpkin patch was small and quaint. The hayride from the barn to the pumpkin patch was a big hit with Shye. There was a little maze made out of produce boxes, haystacks to climb, and few slides. Shye would have spent the whole day going down those slides if I let her. She had quite the meltdown when I made her leave too. Brian ended up thanking me for planning this outing, which is HUGE. He kinda hates doing these kinds of things. But as soon as we got on the hayride and he turned to me and was like, "this is nice" which I translated to mean, "thanks for dragging me out here despite my most ornery protestations just so you can have something to blog about." It was a successful day all around.
Stop being so dang pretty Utah!

Crying because I made Brian go down with her. Such a drama queen, this one.
Playing hide and seek in the maze.

Marana Pumpkin Patch, Marana Arizona
This was actually a fall festival with a pumpkin patch added on to it. It was a tad expensive but there was so much to do there: jumping balloons, pig races, a farm-themed playground, a corn maze, a mini train ride, and a giant hay mountain that Shye climbed to the top of and refused to come down from. The pumpkin patch was huge and it was quite a hike to find a pumpkin. Which wouldn't normally be a problem but it was 90 degrees. Try carrying a 33 lb toddler, a 17 lbs pumpkin, a diaper bag that is way too big and overstuffed with 5 water bottles (I'm nuts), and a camera to capture all the fun in 90 degree weather. By the time I was done I needed I giant, ice-cold Diet Coke. But the whole outing was worth the heat stroke and it was so fun to get to spend some time with the cute new babies in the family too.

I officially declare pumpkin patch season over. Til next year!

Happy Halloween folks!
