Swinging our blues away

I suppose I had it coming. It was all too much too soon. I was too clingy, too needy and there were no boundaries whatsoever. I'm talking about my love affair with Winter. As much as I hate to admit it, the truth is, I'm kinda over Winter. Do you hear that? That is the sound of the most emphatic "Duh!" coming from everyone else in the state of Utah. I never used to understand why people in Utah hated the winters so much, I thought it was all so beautiful and even sort of romantic.

Until this past winter.

My love has waned with each passing day where the temperature hovered around 7 degrees. I like my winters to be around a balmy 30 degrees or so, ok?  My affection withered away while the piles of snow shoveled from our driveway grew. Then there was an ice storm. Those are always fun. Since I didn't really feel like risking splitting my head open on my icy driveway, Shye and I pretty much stayed home for the past two months. And we were starting to go a little cross-eyed with boredom.

But then this past week we started to get a little sunshine. And little by little our gigantic snow piles started to melt. And then on Tuesday I walked outside and it felt positively warm. I think it was actually like 45 degrees, I'm not sure but it felt almost tropical. So Shye and I had a little play date at the park where we swung our winter blues away.

In other news, Shye's curly mullet is finally getting long enough for little pigtails. Is there anything cuter than little piggies? Now, if we could just get the hair on the top of her head to grow too.

  2. I'm over winter from the moment it starts. Especially here in the Midwest, where I feel like we've been couped up inside for months. Done with it.
