The Reason Behind My Smile

Why am I smiling in this picture? Do you see that little cherub in the back there sleeping? DO NOT let her appearance fool you, she is a complete beast. And I'm smiling because she is finally unconscious. It took all my energy and willpower to quietly snap a picture of this serene moment instead of shouting hallelujah and dancing on the hood of my car. You see, lately she has been getting in a few molars and is grouchier than an old man with a wedgie. I  keep thinking that I'm going to catch a break with this whole teething because at this rate she will have approximately 63 teeth by the time she is 3. But so far, there haven't been any signs of it letting up. Oh and believe me, we have tried EVERY teething remedy known to man. Everything from teething tablets to Oragel to a shaman chanting and tapping healing rods together over her...but nothing is working. (Alright, alright, we haven't used a shaman...yet.) But seriously, the only break I get from the incessant whining is when I lock myself in the bathroom for a few minutes everyday so that I can bang my head on the wall and scream into a wad of towels pray for patience.

So sue me for being happy that my kid is asleep.

Happy Friday!

p.s. Check out my friend Jamie's blog here. She just moved from CA to UT too and we met up yesterday for a little playdate. Apparently, moving to UT is the totally the "in" thing right now. You hear that CA peeps? Hurry up and get up here.

  1. You should stop praying for patience and stat praying for healing :P

  2. Haha, this is so funny because we have been going through the same thing.... for the past year :( I don't know where all these teeth come from and you would seriously think that there is no possible way she could get any more, and then she does. I wonder sometimes what kind of personality my child I will have once teething really is over, cause we have yet to see much of anything other than a screaming, crying, beast baby.
