Ok. I admit it. I'm a druggie.
No really. Apparently, the drug oxytocin is released in parents' brains that makes them crazy in love with their newborn. And I'm the latest addict.
Seriously, I can't get enough of my little Shye. I don't want to put her down for anything. Even to go to the bathroom. Hopefully this stage passes soon or else my bladder is going to burst one of these days.
Here are my latest loves.
Shye's little feet -
Non-maternity clothes - Even though I found some really cute maternity clothes I'm so happy that I don't have to wear them anymore.
Ankles - they will never go unappreciated again.
Baby farts - Shye is definitely not shy about passing gas.
Being able to eat more than four bites of food at time - eating is so much more enjoyable without a baby butt wedged in your stomach.
Not having heartburn - does anyone like having heartburn?
Sleeping on my back - finally, my poor hips get a break from sleeping on my side for the past five months.
Sleep smiles - Shye makes the most adorable faces when she is asleep but my favorite is when I catch her smiling in her sleep. Makes me wonder what she is dreaming about.
Having energy again - despite the sleep deprivation I have way more energy than I did when I was pregnant.
Baby snuggles - I'm so glad that I have a cuddly baby.
So in other words, no baby blues here. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to snuggling my little girl.

Yay! So happy for you. I'm still not convinced this heartburn will go away. My greatest fear is that it will stay forever so it is nice to hear yours has gone away. Just a couple more weeks. :)
ReplyDeleteMay your happiness abound! I believe my "awe" was exceedingly evident for the first 3-5 days after we brought Sierra home, the "awe" slowly ebbed into motherly happiness! Congrats hon, you'll remember this feeling forever.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad things are going so well and you are settling into mommyhood. We miss you, though! Hurry back!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than snuggling with a newborn and falling asleep together. Enjoy your little one and I agree with Karen - hurry back!
ReplyDeleteDo you want me to make you a mei tai? (it's a baby carrier, not an alcoholic beverage lol). Then you can actually get stuff done, you know, once you feel like getting up off the couch and stuff, and you won't have to put her down :) (For the record, also works awesome when they are my baby's age because I can keep him out of my dishwasher when I am loading it, hahaha, I kill me).
