Let it be known that there is no such thing as beating the heat in AZ, but for the purposes of this little blog series I'm going to keep the title. I'm not exactly sure what possessed me to take a two week trip to AZ in the middle of what is shaping up to be the hottest summer EVER. It is hotter than Hades here. As I sit here fanning myself in my air conditioned house I wonder just exactly what made those first settlers think that this place was habitable. Especially considering all the extra layers of clothes they used to wear. My only guess is that they showed up in the middle of winter and thought "70 degrees in January? This is nice. Unhitch the wagon!"
