Skirtervention

My name is Shawna and I'm a skirtaholic.
No joke. At the beginning of this year I finally counted how many I had.
62
How does this happen?
1) I worked in retail for a long time so I bought a LOT of clothes with my associate discount. I hardly ever took home a paycheck. They should have just hung a sign on me that said "Will Work 4 Clothes".
  2) Skirts are just easier than dresses. I have such a hard time finding dresses that fit in the hips, the waist, AND the bust. Oh, and that are long enough. And have sleeves.
3) I always justified buying skirts because I could wear them to work AND to church. But now that I'm a stay-at-home mom I pretty much only wear skirts to church. I'm clearly not going to be busting out my fancy skirts for a day of changing diapers and playing airplane.

I decided I needed to thin the herd because I'm afraid that one day I will get buried under a pile of skirts and no one will find me for days. So I gave away 18 skirts. I had 44 left which still felt like way more than I really needed but I couldn't bear to part with anymore of them. I made a goal to not buy anymore skirts but instead start looking for dresses.

I was doing great with my no-skirt-buying....until this past weekend. I was at the thrift store and found myself sort of aimlessly wandering thru the skirt section which is akin to an alcoholic walking into to a liquor store. One thing led to another and before I even knew what I was doing I had 7 skirts in my hand. I told myself to just put them down and walk away. A heated argument ensued between myself and I right there in the middle of Goodwill.
It was pretty ugly, skirts were flying, voices were raised, other shoppers looked away awkwardly.
In the end, myself won out and bought 2 more skirts.
And myself and I are no longer speaking to each other.

My thrifting haul:
red and white striped tee (FINALLY!!! I've been searching for one forever!)
black and white polka dot blouse
grey and whited striped skirt
diagonal candy striped skirt

I need help. The professional kind.
And probably drugs.
And some new shoes to go with these skirts.

  2. That polka dot blouse was super cute yesterday! You gave away 18 skirts?! By the time I got to them there were 2 left. ;-)Let's check out that store that Rebecca told us about. Maybe we can find our new Easter dresses.

  3. Check out eshakti.com for dresses. It's $7.50 extra to custom size and style the dress. So you add your measurements and then the best part you can add sleeves, raise the neckline, or lower the hem etc. On the home page it had $20 off your first order and custom free. You can thank me later :)
