I'm obviously failing at my goal to write two blog posts per week. Here's the latest.
(And my apologies to Rachel for no pictures)
1. I've had two colds in the past two weeks. I never really realized how miserable colds are until I couldn't take anything for it. But after about 10 days of sniffling, sneezing, watery eyes, non-stop coughing, and not being able to sleep because I can't breath I decided that it was in Baby Faye's best interest to have a healthy momma and started using Afrin so that I could at least breath. All you non-knocked up folks need to be more grateful for the blessing that is Nyquil.
2. Brian got another calling. That means that he now has 3 callings. He is the Teacher's advisor, the adult Gospel Doctrine teacher and the Young Men's secretary.
3. Despite all the whining that I've done about my pregnancy, I actually haven't had any complications...until now. I have something called SPD. Google it (spd pregnancy) if you really want to know about it but basically it means that my pelvis is prematurely falling apart. And it freakin hurts.
4. My friend Amber taught a bunch of us the art of coupon clipping. I have to admit I still kinda don't get it. But Amber gets so much stuff for really cheap or free that I'm determined to master this skill...once I'm on maternity leave that is.
5. Speaking of maternity leave, it starts in just TWO more weeks! Woohoo!
6. At this point in my pregnancy I'm in full on survival mode. Everything feels like a choice between the lesser of two evils. Like for example, I can drink a big glass of water before bed and suffer heartburn and have to get up 4 hours later to pee OR I don't drink any water before bed and there's no heartburn but I wake up only 2 hours later absolutely parched and have to get a drink anyway and suffer the heartburn then.
7. Brian got a full-time job! That was a big relief. He actually has 3 jobs now, 2 part-time and 1 full-time. Between 3 jobs and 3 callings I'm not sure I'll ever see him again. I might forget what he looks like, which wouldn't be unusual since I'm forgetting everything these days.
8. I got to spend some quality time with my mom when she came out for my baby shower last week. My little sister decided to stay home and as much as I love that little stinker, it was nice to have my mom all to myself. Especially since I was sick and wasn't really able to do much of anything anyway. We just hung out, watched movies, talked baby talk, and she helped me organize all my baby stuff. Oh and I took her to Cafe Rio for the first time and I'm pretty sure she is now a Cafe Rio convert.
9. My friends Marly, Rachel and Karen threw me a baby shower. Rachel blogged about it here. Boy, do those girls know how to throw a party! I have to say, I absolutely hate being the center of attention and just the thought of a baby shower was giving me some major anxiety attacks. At one point I told them I would only come if they gave me a Xanax first. They laughed of course, but I was semi-serious. But the shower was beautiful and they planned a lot of things to take some of the attention off of me. I got a ton of great stuff and so many adorable outfits. I seriously can't wait to have this little girl so I can play dress-up with her. :)
10. I'm 34 weeks! Only six more weeks to go! And as one friend pointed out, only three more weeks til my Dr. wont put a stop to any labor. Needless to say, I'm researching all the natural ways to induce labor and I'm going try them all...even though I really hate pineapple. I seriously doubt that anything will put me into labor before 39 weeks, especially since all the women in my family tend to go well past their due dates. I'm just hoping that all the methods combined will help me to have the baby right around 40 weeks. Everyone needs to start praying for me since my sanity is due to expire on May 9th if I'm still pregnant.
Oh Shawna...I have SPD too! I'm so sorry...it is seriously torture. I can barely walk to the bathroom without being in serious pain. I hope since you are still going to work that it isn't too severe.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better and you had a good time at your shower. Wish I could have been there. I'm hoping Baby Faye joins us on May 4th since that is Aaron's b-day and it is only fair that your first born shares a birthday with one of us since ours shares with you:) Plus, the next birthday in our family isn't until September and we wouldn't ask you to wait til then.
ReplyDeleteOh, I only had a mild case of SPD during my pregnancy with the twins and it hurt! It makes me want to move you to a downstairs apartment so you don't have to walk the stairs everyday.
ReplyDeleteHang in there!
She will be here so soon!
Sorry about the SPD!
ReplyDeleteNatural induction: A little "alone time" with the hubby worked really well for me!
Can't wait to see pictures of the little one!
And I still didn't see any cute prego pictures at you baby shower. Come on, Shawna! Well, from the ones we could see, I still think you are super tiny for being how far along you are!
ReplyDeleteBrianne, aww man! That stinks! I think the worst for me is trying to turn over in bed or trying to get out of bed. Once I'm up and moving I'm usually ok.
ReplyDeleteJen, I'm totally shooting for May 4th. That would be just perfect. :)
Erin, I didn't know you had SPD on top of everything else. What an awful pregnancy!
Colleen, duly noted. ;)
Jenn, sorry! I decided a long time ago that I wasn't that into pregnancy pics. I've got nothing against them and even if I was a twig with a bump I still wouldn't post any. Don't worry though, I will post tons of pictures of Baby Faye once she is here!
I pretty much knew about most of these things, but how did I miss that Brian got a full-time job?? When did that happen??
ReplyDeleteKaren, he just barely got it. He started Monday. And no, he did not accept the job at the adult toy store. :)
ReplyDeleteIt certainly sounds like both you and Brian have been busy! Sorry to hear about the SPD, but I'm glad your not ill anymore, I had Strep throat twice within a 2 month period and that sucked I can't imagine being that sick and pregnant at the same time. I did see your shower pics and it looked beautiful, I'm glad to hear you had fun and got to spend time with your mom!
